Here’s what I love about staying in Huangpu District — you’re actually in Guangzhou‘s tech hub, which means everything feels newer and more organized than the older parts of the city. The Science City area has this clean, almost futuristic vibe that’s quite different from traditional Guangzhou neighborhoods. What really surprised me was how couples seem to gravitate toward this spot (apparently they rate the location 9.4 out of 10), and I get why. There’s something romantic about those evening walks through the modern plaza areas, plus you’ve got parking right at the hotel — which, trust me, is a huge deal in this city.

The Room Experience

My room was on the smaller side, but honestly, it felt well-designed rather than cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually worked properly — you know how hit-or-miss hotel showers can be. The air conditioning was quiet, which I appreciated since Guangzhou can get pretty humid. What I didn’t expect was how good the Wi-Fi signal was throughout the apartment-style layout, probably because the building’s infrastructure is relatively new.

There isn’t a full-service restaurant on-site, but the ground floor of Zitai Plaza has several dining options that are actually quite good. I ended up eating at a Cantonese place just two minutes away that served some of the best dim sum I had during my entire Guangzhou trip. The hotel does have a small business center and what they call a fitness corner — it’s basic but functional if you need to squeeze in a quick workout.

Look, this isn’t a place that’s going to wow you with fancy amenities or over-the-top service, but it does something more valuable — it gets the fundamentals right. The location puts you close to both the Science City attractions and gives you easy access to central Guangzhou without the chaos of staying downtown.
